MACVSc - Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, Equine Chapter, 1991 This degree (Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists) is similar to Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (DipABVP) here in the US. It is based on written and oral examinations, once the applicant has at least 5 years of practice experience in her chosen field (in my case, equine medicine). Residency, Equine Medicine & Surgery - University of Sydney (Australia), 1991-1993 A residency is an intensive program of advanced training and study in a particular field or discipline. The emphasis of this residency was equine internal medicine and equine sports medicine. MVetClinStud - University of Sydney (Australia), 1993 This degree, Master of Veterinary Clinical Studies, is equivalent to MS (Master of Science) here in the US. My Master's degree was conferred for original research in equine exercise physiology and publication of the thesis "Clinical Exercise Testing of Racehorses." Residency, Equine Internal Medicine - North Carolina State University, 1993-1994 The emphasis of this residency was colic, other medical emergencies, lameness, and foal medicine. AVMA Education Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates, Accreditation Program, 2003-2004 This 4-step program validated my Australian credentials and clinical experience in veterinary medicine, a necessary requirement for veterinary licensure in the US for veterinarians who graduated from vet schools outside of North America. |
