Animal communication. While I do not consider myself an animal communicator, in the common use of the term, an important aspect of my practice is to act as a communicator for my patients - a translator between horse and human.

In my experience, a lot of training/behavioral problems result from misunderstandings between horse and human. These problems can culminate in injury, as resistance to the rider causes the horse to move in an unbalanced and inefficient way which can ultimately overload vulnerable structures. If the level of stress the horse experiences is severe enough, it can even result in illness, as physical or psychological stress compromises the immune system and various metabolic processes.

Medical intuition helps me "listen in" on what the horse is trying to convey through the illness, injury, or training/behavioral problem, and pass that information on to the human caregiver.
