Little Book of Plant Secrets

notes from working with medicinal herbs in essence form

by Dr. Christine King

Introduction

A few years ago I developed a technique for making potent aqueous (water-based) solutions of medicinal herbs. I call them herbal essences, because they express both the physical (biochemical) and nonphysical (essential) properties of the constituent herb/s. The technique, and the resulting products, are a hybrid of herbal tinctures, the remedies of homeopathy and homotoxicology, flower essences, radionics, and music.

When I set out to create these essences, I started with medicinal herbs I was already using in my practice in one form or another, and that I thought I knew well. Just to be sure I had the story straight and wasn't missing anything important, I would sample each essence after I first made it and take notice of its effects in my body and mind. The results were, to put it mildly, surprising. Where I thought I had a plant pegged, it turned out that I understood only a small fraction of its characteristics, properties, place and purpose on the planet, and its capacity to help animals and humans get and stay well.

My experiences in learning about - and from - these herbs have been astonishing, enlightening, humbling, and affirming that these nutritive/medicinal plants, and essences made from them, are truly remarkable. There is so much more to plants than we've been led to believe!

This book is not so much about the technique of making herbal essences as it is about what I discovered in working with the herbs in essence form. It is not a comprehensive treatise on herbs, as I have worked in this way with only about 30 herbs thus far. It is a start; only a start. I hope you find it informative and inspiring, and begin or expand relating with plants in this way yourself.
